I. Abortion
The word abortion comes from the Latin word abortion which means to abort. An abortion can occur spontaneously, in which case it is usually called a “miscarriage”, or it can bepurposely induced. An induced abortion, sometimes called “termination of pregnancy”, is the way of killing a baby while it is inside its mother’s womb. This kind of abortion is legal up to 24 weeks ofpregnancy only when two doctors agree on the 1967 Abortion Act, and in some places and it is illegal on other places. In some parts of the world they have laws against abortion. Abortion can be done bytaking pills or having surgery. Abortion is mostly done by women who end up pregnant at an early age. Almost every year over 12,000 teenagers do abortion. These women go to abortion clinics to have theabortion.
II. What does the Bible say about abortion?
The Bible clearly states in the Ten Commandments “Thou shall not kill” (Exodus 20:13) which means you shall not kill any person, so ifyou kill an unborn child you are clearly breaking the command.
III. Puerto Rico on Abortion
In Puerto Rico abortion has been legal since 1973 when the U.S. Supreme Court recognized the legalityof abortion in the case of Roe v. Wade. In Puerto Rico abortion can be done in any period of pregnancy, but the majority is made in the first quarter.
IV. Abortion’s side effects
Abortion’smain side effects are emotional problems both mentally and physical. Unsafe abortions are a major cause of injury and death among women worldwide. This has a tendency to lead to severe complications,such as incomplete abortion, sepsis, hemorrhage, and damage to internal organs. Unsafe abortion is believed to result in approximately 68,000 deaths and millions of injuries annually. In terms ofemotions, with these side effects you feel sad most of the time and ran down.
