In the times we live in violence has sadly become a worldwide tradition. By the twenty-first century domestic violence has certainly been reduced because of campaigns, andsupport groups, this being established, should more be done? More should be done to deal with domestic violence since it corrupts our society, causes trauma and relinquishes the balance that peopleshould have. Since domestic violence corrupts our society, action must be taken.
Domestic aggression has become a plague that will slowly overrun the values one should be taught. A recent studyshowed that one in six women and one in thirty-three man have experience from an attempt or accomplished rape. Smith and Segal (2010) state: “Domestic abuse often escalates from threats and verbal abuseto violence”. Rape and physical violence have become one of the common types of aggression, but domestic violence has been confirmed to also vary from sexual, emotional and verbal dominance. The maincauses for this menace have been proven to be mental disorders, social/emotional frustration, and the desire of power. Considering the fact that domestic violence has been proven to be the mostunderreported act of aggression and that one-third of the women that are killed are murdered by an intimate partner, it is no question if more should be done against this plague. The majority of thesecases are caused by the male being violent towards the female partner. It was stated by Soundvision.com (2009) that eight in ten murderers who killed a family member were male. It is no question that moremethods should be implemented to reduce this threat. Some of the most notable results of domestic violence are traumas.
