Polar Electro Oy, is a Finnish family-owned manufacturer or heart rate monitors, “Polar Electro Oy, develops, manufactures, and markets sports instruments and wireless heart ratemonitors for sports professionals. Its products offer health related solutions in rehabilitation, weight management, health improvement, fitness, and competition. The company offers its products through anetwork of distributors to retail outlets worldwide. Polar Electro Oy was founded in 1977 and is headquartered in Kempele, Finland.”[1]
On April 3, 2005PolarElectro Oy, was preparing his openingspeech to a group of some employees and partners, its manager, Mr. Jorma Kallio, was in Central Germany for an integral launch of a Partnership between Polar Electro and Adidas.
“In the run-up to theTrack and Field World Championships, Adidas and Polar
Introduce the world’s first completely integrated training system. Called ‘Project
Fusion’, it seamlessly integrates Polar heart rate and speed anddistance monitoring equipment into Adidas apparel and footwear. The products become available in spring 2006.”[2]
In 2005 Polar and adidas, announced partnership to develop world’s first integratedtraining system, combining Polar technology with Adidas sports apparel, But the sheer difference in size between the two companies, was a big concern but however Mr. kallio was convinced that thepartnership with Adidas would be very beneficial for his company. Polar´s sales in 2004 had been 170 million Euros, whereas Adidas sales exceeded 5 billion Euros, making it 30 times the size of Polar.-----------------------
