I. Vocabulary: define the following terms
1. PCR (polymerase chain reaction):  a scientific technique in molecular biology to amplify a single or few copies of apiece of DNA across several orders of magnitude, generating thousands to millions of copies of a particular DNA sequence.
2. Cloning: Make an identical copy of an organism.
3. Gene cloning:the replication of DNA fragments by the use of a self-replicating genetic material. Unlike reproductive cloning, which replicates an entire organism; gene cloning duplicates only individual genes of anorganism's DNA.
4. Recombinant DNA (rDNA): DNA that has been formed artificially by combining constituents from different organisms.
5. Vector: A bacteriophage, plasmid, or other agent thattransfers genetic material from one cell to another.
6. Plasmids: A genetic structure in a cell that can replicate independently of the chromosomes, typically a small circular DNA strand in thecytoplasm of a bacterium or protozoan.
7. Restricting enzyme: An enzyme produced chiefly by certain bacteria, having the property of cleaving DNA molecules at or near a specific sequence of bases.8. DNA ligase: a special type of ligase, which is basically an enzyme that in the cell repairs single-stranded discontinuities in double stranded DNA molecules
9. Complementary DNA (cDNA):Synthetic DNA in which the sequence of bases is complementary to that of a given example of DNA.
10. Biotechnology products: These resulting from a process related to biotechnology.
11. Transgenicorganisms: an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques.
