Andres Calamaro

Andres Calamaro is an Argentine musician, composer, performer and producer. In these days, he works alone, but he was part of important rock bands, like Los Abuelos de la Nada andLos Rodriguez.
Calamaro received his first instrument to the eight years. Two years later, he composed his first song. More years later, in Uruguay, Calamaro had his first band which was namedRaices, as the keyboardist.
During his youthfulness, he studied for a few years at the university, leaving to pursue music. His friend, Zeta Bosio, invited him to form a new band named Proyecto Erekto,with Gustavo Cerati. The group didn’t get success, and Calamaro left it. Then, Charly Alberti joined that band and it was renamed Soda Stereo.
Suddenly, Calamaro was called by Miguel Abuelo for a newproject musical. Calamaro joined Los Abuelos de la Nada, as the keyboardist and composer. There, Calamaro composed Mil Horas, one of his big success songs. At the same time, Calamaro recorded his firstalbum, Hotel Calamaro, produced by Charly Garcia. In 1985, he recorded the last material with Los Abuelos de la Nada.
In 1986, participated like a composer and keyboardist in the music disc Puedesser tú of the Peruvian musician Miki Gonzalez. Also, he started his word as producer of bands like Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and Enanitos Verdes.
Driving his own radio program, Calamaro met Ariel Rot,and in 1990, they created the band Los Rodriguez. The rock band recorded four albums. With Los Rodriguez, Calamaro went back to get the same success that he had with Los Abuelos de la Nada, but in twocontinents. His activity with this band ended with the last album, Palabras más, palabras menos, due to discussions between Calamaro and the rest of the group.
