1: Adding and Editing Text
Objective: To learn how to add text to a document, format it, and break it into shapes. Also how to create text fields and add interactivity to a movie.
Instructions:
Open Flash
Open the “text.fla” file. The file it’s divided into several sections to cover different parts of the practice. PAGE 1: Creating and formatting type 1. Click the Text tool then click the Stage and start typing to create an expanding one line text block. 2.Create a new text block, but this time drag the resize handle to define the width of the block to create a multiline text box. Note: • • An extendable one‐line text block has a round handle in the upper right corner, but a fixed width text block has a square handle. Resizing a round handle converts it to square handle, and double clicking a square handle converts it to round handle.

PAGE 2: Working with fonts 1. Select the characters with the Text tool. 2. Use the Property inspector to make the text bold and green. Note: The Property inspector can also change the font and size. PAGE 3: Formatting text blocks 1. Use the Selection tool and hold down the shift key to select both of the text blocks in the work file. 2.Use the Property inspector to choose a new font and color for both text blocks at the same time. PAGE 4: Creating a text field 1. To convert the text block on the stage field, click the Text tool and place a text insertion point in the text block. 2. Select input text form the property inspector (the round handle moves form the upper right to the lower right corner) Note: There are 3 kinds of texts. i. Static (Do not change) ii. Dynamic (Updates automatically from an external source) iii. Input (So users can enter text) ...
