ALEXANDER THE GREAT~

INTRODUCTION
This Project is about the life of Alexander the Great. I’ll talk about the way he conquered, what were his achievements and some facts about him. First I’ll talk about his early life. Then about how he became king of Macedonia. Later about his campaigns and conquest. Finally how he died. Hope you enjoy it. Heres a brief story of his life:
Conqueror and Kingof Macedonia, Alexander the Great. During his leadership, he united the Greek city-states and led the Corinthian League. He also became the king of Persia, Babylon and Asia, and created Macedonian colonies in Iran. While considering the conquests of Carthage and Rome, Alexander died of malaria in Babylon on June 13, 323 B.C.

EARLY LIFE
Alexander the Great was born in the Pella region ofMacedonia on September 20, 356 B.C. to parents King Philip II of Macedonia and Queen Olympia, daughter of King Neoptolemus.
Alexander's mother, therefore, was responsible for guiding his formative years. Her first priority was to instill in him a sense of destiny and the greatness to which he would ascend. She may also have tried to turn him against his father, especially criticizing Philip's moralshortcomings.
In his early years, Alexander was raised by a nurse, Lanike, sister of Alexander's future general Cleitus the Black. Alexander received his earliest education under the tutelage of Leonidas. Leonidas, who had been hired by King Phillip to teach Alexander math, horsemanship and archery, struggled to control his rebellious student. When Alexander was ten years old, a traderfrom Thessaly brought Philip a horse, which he offered to sell for thirteen talents.
Alexander completed his education at Meiza in 340 B.C.  A year later, while still just a teen, he became a soldier and embarked on his first military expedition, against the Thracian tribes. In 338, Alexander took charge of the Companion Cavalry and aided his father in defeating the Athenian and Theban armies at Chaeronea. One famous anecdote about how Alexander met Bucephalas : The prize horse of a certain breeder who came to sell the horse to Philip for a great sum. When the king's servants found the horse unmanageable, Philip sent the breeder away, only to be interrupted by his eight-year-old son, who complained that a great horse should not be lost simply because no one had the skill or courage to master him.Alexander then rose to the challenge and tamed the horse proudly in front of a speechless audience, leaving Philip likely filled with pride and perhaps a little resentment.

KING OF MACEDONIA
His father Philip was king before him. He didn't want to inherit wealth and power (although he soon would anyway) but his true passion in life was fame. He wanted to conquer like his father, only better.King Philip II was murdered at the hands of Pausanias, a Macedonian noble.
Sooner then expected, Alexander had become the King of Macedonia. Also, he had to become the new captain-general of the Greek troops that Phillip had assembled. Less than a year after Alexander took power, Thebes turned against his troops. The young king punished Thebes harshly, and had the Macedonians kill about sixthousand Thebans. They sold another thirty thousand to be slaves.
After a few years, Alexander established himself as a ruler to be respected. In 334 B.C., he created the great military that brought all of the land stretching from Greece to India under his power. When he crossed the Hellespont into Asia, in the spring of that year, his army had about 32,000 infantry and 5,000 horsemen.
Alexander wasalso very confident in himself, which helped him on the road to success. Alexander handled his army brilliantly, often improving them as he went along.
Alexander also had very good political plans. As part of his overall strategy in western Persia, for example, he freed the Greek cities he found under Persian control, and let them all rule themselves. Most Greeks believed in democracy and...
