What I think attachment theory is:

Attachment theory to me is when a child gets too attached to a parent, to a point where they cannot live normally without that parent.

Attachment Theory:Contributors: John Bowlby , James Robertson, Mary Ainsworth

Pre-investigation: In the 1930’s Bowlby worked is a psychiatrist in a Child Guidance Clinic in London. He treated a lot of childrenthat were emotionally unstable and these experiences led to the consideration of a child’s relationship with their mother in a cognitive, social and, emotional way. This study led to the investigation ofattachment theory.

Investigation: Bowlby observed the children would experience distress when separated from theirs mothers. He tried having the child be fed be another person and that did notchange the fact the child was distressed. That being said he definitely under estimated the bond between the child and their mother.
Bowlby said that attachment theory is understood somethingevolutionary, in other words a behavior that change over time or the child will grow out of it. Attachment is adaptive, a child feels safe and feels like they have a chance of survival when they are withtheir mother.

Other investigations:

There is also an explanation of attachment theory having to do with stages.

• Up to 3 months of age: The newborn is attached to any human. They give the sameresponse to any human. (Caregiver)

• After 4 months: They learn to tell the difference between primary and secondary caregivers or people who are not caregivers.

• After 7 months: Specialattachments to a single figure.

• After 9 months: Baby becomes independent and forms several attachments.





Conclusion:

Attachments were most likely to form with those who respondedaccurately to the baby's signals, not the person they spent most time with. Usually the mother would be the biggest attachment because the moment of bonding within the 9 months in a mother’s wound....
