Desmond Bagley (29 October 1923, Kendal – 12 April1983, Southampton), was a British journalist and novelist principally known for a series of best-selling thrillers. The book of the enemy was written in Guernsey in the channel island in 1977.
SummarizeMalcolm Jaggard told to Penelope Ashton that was a marketing research consultant but really he was a spy that wanted marry with her a daughter with a rich father and a little sister called Gillian. Oneday a man called Mayberry threw acid in the eyes of Gillian so Malcolm decided take the case, why someone wanted make something like this? He investigated and found that his father George Ashton was adangerous man in Great Britain and was a Russian scientific. Penelope was biological scientific that had a project about bacteria very dangerous; so many people don´t wanted the thing that she did.George decided leaves Great Britain and go to Stockholm to protect his family. Malcolm went to search him and he found him in a military camp but then a shot of Benson the partner of George, he killedhim. He had more clues and she discovered the place where Penelope had worked in an island called Cladach duillich that was of maximum security. Malcolm entered, Penelope was there but a glass ofprotection was broke and the entire place was infected, men entered with plastic clothing and then were carried away to hospital. One month later Penelope was ok but Malcolm was more complicated, thedoctor spoke with him and told him that he had cancer and only had 6 months or maybe one year. Malcolm asked to Penelope that if she wanted to go to the South of Ireland, he wanted that was his lovePenelope and she accepted. Malcolm in the time that he still had, he wrote the Ashton´s case and he discovered that actually the enemy that he had was himself.
