Ruling the country the General Ramon Freire,January 14, 1826, on Chiloe’s heights that had "beautiful view" there was a battle between royalists and patriots, being the last defeat of the royalists. Shortly after it was signed the "Tratado deTantauco" which is the reason the royalist forces withdrew their last stronghold, being the island of Chiloé incorporated into the territory of Republican Chile. This would apparently be the origin ofthis street, which extended to the neighborhood. On this street, intersecting with Archbishop Casanova is found the historical monument Iglesia Epifanía del Señor. Also is found the Zona Típica PoblaciónLeón XIII, which comprises several streets Melchor Concha, Archbishop Casanova and part of Chaplain Abarzua, Punta Arenas, Salvador Donoso, Isabel Riquelme and Antonia Lopez de Bello

Historian. Political since he was 18. His public work culminated in the Municipality of Santiago, then undertaking the modernization of the city, the transformation of Cerro Santa Luciainto beautiful public walk, and starting the Camino de Cintura at its eastern boundary, now the western edge and Wide Avenue of the commune. He died in 1806, being considered one of the first geniusesof republican America. The place where he lived, transformed after a fire, is now the Museum Mackenna, located in these very important urban roads, at No. 94, which has been declared a historicmonument.
