2012: A year under the banner of Sustainable Development
Whether in the offices or the factories, in France orthe United States, at BIC “sustainable development” is more than just a buzzword! In this issue, we bring you an overview of the SD highlights of 2012, from A to Z.

as in “Affichage Environnemental” – France’s environmental score posting program
With the posting of environmental impact scores, a product’s life-cycle ecological footprint is no longer a mystery. The systemis being tested in France, and in 2012 BIC decided to post the scores of its shavers. You can’t tell the players without a scorecard — to find out everything about the BIC ® shavers’ eco-impact, go towww.bicworld.com/fr/ affichage-environnnemental.

BIC’s family of environmentally responsible products continues to grow. In 2012, the BIC ® Ecolutions ® (stationery) and BIC ® Hybrid / BIC ®Easy (shavers) ranges were extended with the launch of new products.

as in “Haiti, a School, a Future”
This project has mobilized BICemployees all over the world. Its goal: to encourage education using digital technology in Haiti while developing local commercial activities. Donations totaling €152,036 were collected in 2012, half inemployee contributions and half in matching funds from the Group.
as in Factories
Sustainable development is also a part of life in the Group’s factories. In Tunisia, that means eco-friendlyconstruction: the new BIC factory was built with environmental protection in mind. In the United States, BIC APP has joined the club of factories approved by the Quality Certification Alliance (QCA), whoseaudits cover five areas: quality, product safety, environmental stewardship, supply chain security and social compliance.
