Mao Tse Tung

(Hunan, China, 1893 - Beijing, 1976) Poet, scholar, revolutionary politician, military strategist, founder of the Chinese Communist Party,President of the Republic of China and promoter of the Cultural Revolution, this long-lived and healthy man, husband and three times father of a large brood, MaoTse-tung, was one of the most charismatic and influential leaders of the twentieth century, not only at home but also in the radical parties worldwide. Born into afamily of farm workers, was the eldest of three children of a moderately prosperous family of farmers and lenders. Born in the village of Shaoshan in Xiangtangregion, Hunan province. His ancestors had migrated here during the time of the Ming Dynasty and had engaged in farming for generations. in the middle where he spent hischildhood school education was considered useful only to the extent that it could be applied to tasks such as record keeping and other own agriculturalproduction, so at the age of thirteen Mao Tse-tung had to dropping out of school to devote himself to work on the family farm.

However, the young Mao left his father'shouse and entered the School of Education in Changsha, where he began to make contact with Western thought. Later he joined the Nationalist Army, where he servedfor six months, after which he returned to Changsha and was appointed director of a primary school. Later he worked in Peking University as assistant librarianand read, among others, Bakunin and Kropotkin, and to make contact with two key men who would be the socialist revolution in China: Chen Duxiu and Li Dazhao.
