He was born in London, England, UK, on April 16th, 1889 and died in Vevey, Switzerland, on December 25th, 1977
He first married the actress Mildred Harris in 1918 and got divorced a yearand a half later. Mildred was pregnant on her wedding day.
Paulette Goddard, participated in a movie with Charles and ended up being his third wife in1933 and got divorced in 1942.
In 1943 hemarried Oona O'Neill, daughter of writer Eugene O’Neill, she shared with him the rest of his life and with whom he had eight children.
