Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar is a person who suffers from violent personality changes, switching from one mood to another totally opposite to the previous. It is a depressive disorder because this disorder alters the way the mind works. It is a very serious mental illness that does not allow stability, which leads to that the person, is not even able to carry out their daily tasks.

A bipolarperson is a person who has different episodes, for example, sometimes they show very high energy levels, cognition, and mood with or without one or more depressive episodes. People with manic episodes experiences, commonly have experiences with episodes of depression, and they can mix between mania and depression at the same time. These events are separated into "normal" periods, but in someindividuals, depression and mania may alternate. This is known as rapid cycling. The severe manic episodes can lead to psychiatric symptoms, delusions and hallucinations.

Bipolar disorder is divided into:
• Bipolar I Disorder is mainly defined by manic or mixed episodes that last at least seven days, or by manic symptoms that are so severe that the person needs immediate hospital care. Usually, theperson also has depressive episodes, typically lasting at least two weeks. The symptoms of mania or depression must be a major change from the person's normal behavior.

• Bipolar II Disorder is defined by a pattern of depressive episodes shifting back and forth with hypomanic episodes, but no full-blown manic or mixed episodes.

• Bipolar Disorder Not Otherwise Specified is diagnosed when aperson has symptoms of the illness that do not meet diagnostic criteria for either bipolar I or II. The symptoms may not last long enough, or the person may have too few symptoms, to be diagnosed with bipolar I or II. However, the symptoms are clearly out of the person's normal range of behavior.

• Cyclothymic Disorder, or Cyclothymia, is a mild form of bipolar disorder. People who havecyclothymia have episodes of hypomania that shift back and forth with mild depression for at least two years. However, the symptoms do not meet the diagnostic requirements for any other type of bipolar disorder.

• And other types that are separated depending on the severity and experiencing episodes. This can be classified as bipolar spectrum.

Mental health experts separate the condition into fourtypes. Symptoms vary from person to person. When doctors know what type of bipolarity has, can tailor treatment to the specific needs of each person.

The lifetime bipolar people may vary. All of the symptoms usually occur in adolescence or young adulthood. The diagnosis is based on the experiences that people have, as well as the behavior they have. The episodes may be associated with distressand disruption and risk of suicide. This happens most times during the depressive and mixed episodes. In some cases, this can be very devastating. In other cases it has been associated with achievements of creativity, goal effort, and positive. Evidence has been found that people with creativity and talents have suffered from bipolar disorder. It can be inferred or suggested that creativity andbipolar disorder are united.

Genetic factors contribute to the likelihood of developing bipolar disorder, and environmental factors are also included. Bipolar disorder may be a polygenic disease.

Bipolar disorder is treated with medications that stabilize mood, and psychiatric drugs. Psychotherapy also has a role, often when some recovery of the subject's stability. In serious cases, in whichthere is a risk of hurt to oneself or others, involuntary commitment may be used. These cases involve severe manic episodes with dangerous personality changes, or episodes of depression with suicidal ideation.
