Geographic Location
The Republic of China is located in EastAsia.
Its northern border Mongolia, Russia, north-west Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kajastán east with North Korea, Yellow Sea, East China Sea, the west by Pakistan and Afghanistan, to the south by India, Nepal, Mianma, Laos, Bhutan and Vietnam.

Location and Territory
China is located in Asia, on the western shores of the Pacific Ocean. Its territory covers 9.8 million km2. The continentalcoasts extend over 18,000 km, and its vast sea comprises more than 5,000 islands. Taiwan and Hainan are the largest.
At the center-north of the country extends the Mongolian steppe. Moving south is the great Yellow River or Huang, origin of Chinese civilization and on its banks is Xi'an, the first capital of the Chinese empire.

Major Religions of China
Buddhism
Buddhism entered China about2,100 years ago in the 4th century began to spread. Gradually it became the country's largest religion. Chinese Buddhism consists of three language schools that are of Chinese Buddhism, the Tibetan language and the language of Bali, also known South suchas transmitted Buddhism. All three schools have a total of about 200 thousand monks of both sexes. Today, in our country there are more than 13,000temples open to the public and 33 Buddhist schools.

Taoism
Taoism originated in China, appeared in the second century of our era and currently has over 1,800 years of history. Taoism, which advocates the worship of nature and ancestors, has had many schools throughout the story, as the Quanzhen and Zhengyi, and has some influence on the Han. Since there are no strict rituals or regulations ofmembership, it is difficult to count the number of believers. In China there are more than 1,500 Taoist temples and more than 25,000 monks and nuns.

Islam
Islam was introduced to China from Arabia in the seventh century. Among the more than 18 million people in the ten ethnic groups, such as Hui, Uighur, Tatar, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, Uzbek, Tajik, Dongxiang, Salar and Bao'an, mostly Muslims, believersof Islam, who live mainly in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, the Ninxia Hui, the provinces of Gansu, Qinghai, Yunnan, among others. China currently has more than 30,000 mosques and more than 40,000 priests, imams and Islamic clerics.

Catholicism
Catholicism was introduced into China in the seventh century and again repeatedly come to this country and after the Opium War of 1840 wasintroduced in bulk. In the present, religion has 100 parishes, about 5,000 local churches and dependents, serving 5 million believers, and 12 academies of theological philosophies. Since 1981, the Catholic religion has trained and consecrated some 1,500 young priests, about 100 of which have been sent by religion to study abroad. Furthermore, in our country there are many nuns.

ChristianityChristianity was introduced into China in the early nineteenth century, but failed to develop to the Opium War of 1840. In 1950, Chinese Protestants began the patriotic movement for autonomy, self-sustaining and self-diffusion in order to achieve their own abilities in decision making. China now has 10 million Christians, 18,000 clerics and 12,000 churches and 25,000 places for meetings of believers.Traditions and Culture in China
