Is the vehicle back up cameras worthy?

Should vehicles (cars, trucks, vans, SUV’s) be required to have backup cameras? If you are a

car driver, safety is always your prime consideration. Today we can see how many accidents

occur while backing up a vehicle especially with older people and kids. These days, various

devices are available on the market to ensure that you andyour passengers are safe while on the

and boats. It was once acceptable to turn your head and check once you were in the vehicle. You

should still get into the habit of checking behind the vehicle before getting in and continue to

back up slowly even after the camera is installed. Children sometimes run out behind the vehicleso even if you see them you need enough time to react. To optimize its use, make sure that when

you are setting up the camera that you center it, angled to get the complete field of vision from

bumper to street and even a little farther out. Some cameras will have a wide scope with a 120

degree range. A good field of view would cover both outside edges of your bumper.

With afull view of what is behind the vehicle, drivers can smoothly back into smaller

spaces and substantially reduce the risk of major accidents. Many people think that the backup

For drivers, they all do know that when they do back up their cars, their sport utility

vehicles, the luxury units, or even their pickup trucks, they couldeasily bump into someone or

something. With this, most drivers do consider backup as something quite dangerous. This is

mostly because of the fact that directly in the rear of your vehicle are those areas that they call

blind spots. In the U.S. alone, it is believed that 292 people die annually run over by a driver who

was backing up his vehicle and did not have enough visibility. Inaddition, about 18,000 people

annually suffer injuries from accidents due a low or no visibility.

One of the biggest problems while backing up a vehicle is that a lot of drivers do not look

first. Most drivers back up and then look. Most cars feature a blind spot or spots to

the rear large enough to hide a small child. Driving in reverse is deceptively hard, and has nocorrelation to driving forward. There is a simple reason for that. Cars are designed to go

forward, when traveling in reverse the driver is asking the vehicle to do things the car was not

designed to do. The major culprit is the vehicle suspension system. Automobile suspensions

possess a quality known as caster ("National highway traffic," 2012)

the front wheels after the steering wheel is turned. Caster also gives the car stability while

traveling forward. Unfortunately, this stabilizing forward force destabilizes the car while it's in
