RESUMEN
Prolac�na(PRL) es una hormona proteica que ha sido relacionada con más de 300 funciones fisiológicas diferentes, sin embargo, se conoce mejor su par�cipación en la síntesis de leche por la glándula mamaria. Su función la realiza a través de la unión a receptores de membrana específicos, los PRL (RPRL), y se reporta la existencia de tres isoformas diferentes llamadas larga, intermedia y corta. Su densidad y�po varía dependiendo del estado hormonal y fisiológico del sujeto, lo que sugiere que la abundancia variable de estas isoformas está involucrada con funciones específicas dentro de cada uno de los tejidos. La unión prolac�na-receptor produce la ac�vación de diferentes vías de señalización intracelular, dentro de las que se encuentran las STAT (Proteínas Transductoras de Señal y Ac�vadoras de laTranscripción) y las MAP kinasas (Proteínas Kinasas Ac�vadas por Mitógenos), que están involucradas en procesos de diferenciación y proliferación celular. En la próstata, se sabe que PRL interviene en la síntesis de Catepsina D, andrógenos y citrato, así como en el aumento en la can�dad del semen en respuesta a un es�mulo sexual. También se ha observado que �ene cierta par�cipación en la generación depatologías (Hiperplasia Prostá�ca). A pesar de que PRL ac�va diferentes vías de señalización y de que está involucrada en funciones normales y patológicas, la relación entre éstas aún no es del todo clara. Por ello, esta revisión pretende mostrar la relación entre las vías intracelulares u�lizadas por PRL y las funciones en las que par�cipa dicha hormona. ABSTRACT
Prolac�n (PRL) is a proteinic hormone that has been related to over 300 different physiological func�ons, nonetheless, its involvement in the synthesis of milk by the mammary gland is best known. Its func�on is carried out throw the binding to specific membrane receptors, the PRL (RPRL), and it reported the existence of 3 differentisoforms called long, intermediate and short. Their density and type vary depending on the hormonal and physiological state of the subject, which suggests that the variable abundance of these isoforms is involved with specific func�ons within each of the �ssues. The binding prolac�n-receptor produces the ac�va�on of different intracellular signaling forms, among which are found the STAT (Signaltransducers and Transcrip�on Ac�vators) and MAP kynase (kynase proteins ac�vated by mitogens), that are involved in the differen�a�on and cellular prolifera�on process. In the prostate, it is known that PRL intervenes in the synthesis of Catepsin-D, androgen and citrate as well as in the increase in the quan�ty of semen in response to sexual s�muli. It has also been observed that it has some part in theethiology of pathologies (Prosta�c Hyperplasia). Even though PRL ac�vates different signaling pathways and that it is involved in normal and pathological func�ons, the rela�on among these is s�ll not clear. Therefore, this review intends to clarify the rela�on between the intracellular pathways used by PRL and the func�ons in which this hormone takes part.
