The obvious cultural differences between Nomura and Lehman were the dress code that Lehman had to his employees. Nomura let us clear what was unacceptable for hisbelieve as a dress code emphasizing more on women that on men. Also when it is told that Nomura trained again Lehman employees, he segregated them into a group of woman and men. It is not common foran american culture to have this type of process when you trained them. The way Nomura was training the woman even though they had excellent universities degrees were like if they were going to dohousework or a similar work. It is left clear that Nomura was a “machista” and he was more hard on women than on men.
The global attitude that characterizes Nomura was that even though he has a verystrict background culture, he was open to different type of cultures. If we take the dress code example we can not say that he was open to different type of cultural believes but just by promotingpeople from different places of the world, it is left clear that he was willing to accept the different types of opinions.
Some of the cultural characteristics that Japanese and Americans have incommon is the type of government that they have, both democratic. Japanese is more strict on its religious point of view that the Americans. In their education, Japanese do not believe on a liberalexpression, they educate the children in a way that they can not say whatever it comes to their head, in contrary of americans that they say whatever they think or believe. Japanese also it is left clearthat are not liberal in the way their woman dress, they are very strict on this and Nomura leave this clear when he takes Lehman company. This type of cultural differences could affect Nomura becausethe american employees might not be willing to accept this type of new cultural differences and if they do they won't be very happy about it.
