CAUSES OF THE FRENCH REVOLUTION
The French Revolution was a big event in history. But what caused it? In this essay I will explain 3 causes that I consider were very important for this big event. Ashistory has showed, the French Revolution lasted from 1789 until 1799 when France was ruled by monarchy. The French Revolution was an example of liberation and hope to other countries because itdemonstrated not only that the majority of citizens rebelled against the monarchy and took them away, it also showed that poor people and peasants won a revolution. So obviously the causes to make thisrevolution were strong enough to make the French people succeed. Three of the big causes that I think were the most important were: French economic and social problems, people starving and theEnlightenment Ideas.

During the end of 1700’s, France was going through many economic and social problems. The first one was a big debt France had with other countries. The second was that the 96% of thepopulation were everyone else that won’t be aristocracy and clergy; and they were really poor. Besides the latter situation there was this big problem that was that the aristocracy (nobles, kings,etc.) and the clergy didn’t pay taxes and they were very rich. They spent all their money in luxuries and personal interests. Because they (aristocracy) spent all the country’s money, France was broke.France also was going on in a social problem because it was divided in Three Estates, and the Third Estate was the 96% ofpopulation that consisted of the working class and peasants. This third estate was exploited by the second and first class; aristocracy and clergy respectively. On the Estates-General, that was anassembly that consisted of these three estates where each represented a portion of the French population, each estate had just one vote to make a decision like that the 1st and 2nd estate pay taxes so the...
