1. Why does Lenin reject Stalin? What does he suggest?
Lenin rejects Stalin because he is a disloyal person who creates strategic partnerships against acommon rival and then he betrays the old alliance and destroys it with a new partnership. It is with this unfaithful strategy that he eliminates his political enemies and he tries to succeed. Besides thisLenin knows that Stalin has a boundless power as he is the secretary-general and he is not sure that Stalin will always be able to use that power with caution and in a proper way. Lenin argues thatStalin is very rude, defect that is intolerable among communist and mostly in a secretary-general. Lenin also sees in Stalin a very ambitious and false person, as before his death, he has already begunto position himself as the successor. In addition Stalin is very whimsical, he is inconsiderate to the comrades and inpolite.
That is why Lenin suggests that the comrades should think of a way ofremoving Stalin from that charge and look for someone in his stead. They should appoint for a loyal and tolerant man, who considers his comrades and who is polite and less capricious. Besides theseLenin propose to increase the number of Central Committee members to a few dozen or a hundred to raise the prestige of the C.C, to improve the administrative machinery and to prevent conflicts betweenthe C.C sections ( specially between those who want to acquire all the power)
2. Who is Lenin’s candidate as his successor? Why?
Lenin candidate is Trotsky as he has proven he is the most a capableman in the Central Committee. Trotsky has shown excessive preoccupation for the purely conditions of the workers, he has shown self confident, loyalty and politeness. Besides these, Trotsky has beenhis trusted man, he perfectly knows what the country needs how to handle each situation and he is propensity to be attracted by the purely administrative matters.
