Coixtlahuca’s Ghost

One day, many years ago, a little girl called Eva was playing in the atrium of an old convent; she lived in a town of Oaxaca State: Coixtlahuaca.
She was jumping when suddenly a flashattracted her attention. At the end of the atrium, a thin woman dressed in black was brushing her long and black hair, she was sitting in a ruined wall. The woman’s face was very pale;however, she was a beautiful woman.
The woman was looking to herself in a hand mirror when she turned to Eva, then the woman smiled at her…
Eva was stunned; the woman saw herstrangely, then the woman stood up and Eva saw that the woman's hair reached until her knees.
The woman beckoned to Eva, the woman wanted that she approach to her.
Eva was hypnotized and shewas approaching slowly when suddenly a loud scream stopped her Eva! Eva! Where are you going? It was her sister Ana who came to say to Eva that it was time to eat.
Eva's father wasvery strict with his daughters so she obeyed immediately.
Later that day at night, Eva told other girls about her meeting with the mysterious woman. There was a girl who had a red ribbonin her hair, this girl did not believe story
The skeptical girl challenged the others to go to the old convent at that moment but none of them wanted to do it. The girl said that shewas not afraid and she would seek the mysterious woman and she walked away quickly. The rest of the girls went home.
The days passed, girls continued playing in the yard everyafternoon, all girls except one: the skeptical girl.
People said that the girl and her parents migrated to Orizaba in Veracruz State.
A few years later, a brigade of workers from the NationalInstitute of Anthropology and History came to Coixtlahuaca to repair the old convent. Among the remains of a destroyed wall, a bricklayer found a red ribbon together with a hand mirror…
