Color Symbolism and Culture Depending of our culture, we all see and give a different meaning to colors. Even though, there are some examples of “universal” meanings, such as: Traffic lights: - Red =Stop - Yellow = Caution - Green = Go Patriotism: Every country has its own flag, and some of them apply those colors to everything, mostly if that works for politics. USA for instance has Red, Whiteand Blue, meanwhile in Ireland even though they have orange, white and green, they are more identified with green. Holidays: - Red & Green = Christmas - Autumn colors such as orange, brown, yellow andred = Thanksgiving - Black & Orange/Purple = Halloween - Pastel colors = Eastern Emotions: Blue = Conservative Red = Power & Agression Yellow & Orange = Warmth (also with temperature) Blue, Green,Black, any other with dark shade = Cool

Ecology: Green Religion: Navajo Nation: Turquoise, white, yellow, and black = Sacred Mountains

Apache Nation: Green, white, yellow & black = Sacred colorsof the white mountain and are also used in government

Iowa Nation: Black, yellow, red and white = Direction, their flag and the “4 races of man”

Excitement, energy, passion, love, desire, speed,strength, power, heat, aggression, danger, fire, blood, war, violence, all things intense and passionate. Pink symbolizes love and romance, caring, tenderness, acceptance and calm. Beige and ivorysymbolize unification. Ivory symbolizes quiet and pleasantness. Beige symbolizes calm and simplicity. Joy, happiness, betrayal, optimism, idealism, imagination, hope, sunshine, summer, gold, philosophy,dishonesty, cowardice, jealousy, covetousness, deceit, illness, hazard and friendship. Peace, tranquility, cold, calm, stability, harmony, unity, trust, truth, confidence, conservatism, security,cleanliness, order, loyalty, sky, water, technology, depression, appetite suppressant.
