Communist Cuba

What is communism? From my source, communism is according to Karl Marx in “The Communist Manifesto”, is a distinct socio-political philosophy that is willing to use violent means to attain its goal of a classless society. It states that many problems in society happen due to the great unequal distribution of wealth. To bringhappiness and equality, this gap must be reduced to a flat line with some really rich and some really poor, although this isn’t the hard core idea. Of course the rich will never give up their luxurious life, full of marvelous things and, because of this, the working class usually the poor have to provoke and follow through a rebellion.

In 1959, Fidel Castro along with his cheer, “leading force ofsociety and of the state,” provoked this last part to successfully launch a Communist Party. Batista was the current president who was greatly influenced by the US. Fidel got the support from the people, and overthrew the government causing it to be Communist. The Popular Socialist Party obtained what it had hunted, Cuba. Up to today, Cuba is still communist and has both good and bad aspects, andfollows the Communist Manifesto in some aspects.

Once Fidel Castro gained total power of the government, the rich people fled to Florida and this will be relevant later on in the paper. Right away, Fidel captured all of the means of production and made them for the government. The government also controls all natural resources and a single figure power. Right away, the socials classes fusetogether to become on straight one, in which there are very few rich people and poor people. One of my sources states that Cuba’s communism leads to a very elaborate and successful healthcare. It states that it is free, and that it has a great revenue for the country. Another benefit from this is that everyone has work and the working class receives more money, which is only fair and justice. Inanother type of government, the hard work and benefits go to the owners and the working class is exploited. Everyone is equal, and at the same time you don’t have to worry about being treated unequally. Due to strict laws, the crime rate is very low in Cuba with harsh punishments for those who want to go against the law. Another benefit is that there is one central type of education, which is heavenly, invested upon to make it better.

Although the communism theme sounds tempting, we now have to look on the negative aspect of it. First of all, there is no personal individuality. You have to do what the government says; you can’t act like you wish. In other words, you’re a slave. If you decide to go against the government let’s say politically or come up with new ideas, you run the risk oftorture and even execution. The poverty rate is low in Cuba. My source comments that they average Cuban lives of about two dollars a day. In my case, my weekend money is about 1000 pesos each week. That’s what they make in about 2 months. There is always political harassment with warnings and threats to the people for whoever wants to go against the government. They constantly remind the people whois in charge. People don’t have freedom of speech or a new political type of government. In the same source, it says that people who aren’t straight are severely harassed and you’re obligated to follow orders. You’re like a controller, waiting to react depending on the commands of your king. Communism is a serious and violent type of government which believes in the use of violence to control anysituation.

When we observe the Communist Manifesto, one part says that during the development of communism, the means of production and resources have to be turned over to the people. Cuba currently owns its means of production and resources (the government) and they handle the workers. It was never turned over to the working society, but it seems that they don’t really matter, like the...
