DIABETES MELLITUS

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
* Increased thirst as to times and volume of fluid required.
* Increased frequency and volume of urine.
* Weight loss despite increasedappetite.
* Vaginitis, skin infections, blurred vision and frequent bladder infections.
* Occasionally male impotence and disappearance of menstruation in women.

URGENT SYMPTOMS
* DiabeticKetoacidosis: The increased thirst and urination, nausea, and rapid deep breathing, abdominal pain, and the sweet odor are symptoms that precede a gradual loss of consciousness in diabeticketoacidosis. This is most likely to occur in insulin-dependent diabetics, often after the lack of a dose of insulin or when there is an infection.

* Eat hypoglycemic (insulin reaction). The tremor,weakness or numbness followed by headache, confusion, dizziness, double vision or loss of coordination are clear marks of an insulin reaction.
