Analytical Paragraph
Act three on a Midsummer Night’s Dream demonstrates a humorous scene between the characters. While the characters are rehearsing forthe play that is going to take care on the night of the wedding Puck with great mischief transforms Bottom’s head into an ass’s head. As Bottom enters the scene toutter his lines he frightens everyone; without understanding what was going on. Titania has been enchanted by the potion and is now sleeping. Bottom added, ‘‘I seetheir knavery; this is to make an ass of me, to fright me, if they could. But I will not stir from this place, do what they can. I will walk up and down here, andI will sing, that they shall hear I am not afraid’’ (3.1.100-105). With this Bottom explains to us that the other members of the play, his fellow comrades lefthim alone due to the fact that they wanted to portray him like a fool. Bottom was penchant to show that they were mistaken by leaving him in that situation! Hedoesn’t allow this to stop him motivation and so keeps his role of the play! Bottom shouts with all his might to demonstrate that he is not afraid of this. What is reallyironic of this scene is that Bottom is truly sure about the fact that he is being tricked by others to make himself believe that he is a fool or as an ass as wemay say, but when in fact he has become a true ass meaning a donkey! As Titania wakes up, she falls in love with this strange yet amusing creature standing in frontof him. Bottom’s thoughts get mixed up but yet he doesn’t allow for this to get in the way of his role of the play, so he continues to rehearse his lines!
