Obama's parents met in Hawaii,where his father was a foreign student on scholarship. The couple married on February 2, 1961, but separated when Obama Sr. went to Harvard University on scholarship, anddivorced in 1964. Obama Sr. remarried and returned to Kenya, visiting Barack in Hawaii only once, in 1971. He died in an automobile accident in 1982.
After her divorce, Dunhammarried Indonesian student, and the family moved to Indonesia where from ages six to ten, Obama attended local schools.
In 1971, Obama returned to Honolulu to live with hismaternal grandparents, and studied in a private college preparatory school, from the fifth grade until his graduation from high school in 1979. Obama's mother returned to Hawaiiin 1972, remaining there until 1977. She left and finally returned to Hawaii in 1994 and lived there for one year, before dying of ovarian cancer.
He worked for a year atthe Business International Corporation, then at the New York Public Interest Research Group. In late 1988, Obama entered Harvard Law School. When he enter Harvard LawSchool he also had a part time job to help him pay his studies. Frequently he would mention his aspirations of becoming Presdient of the U.S. and though anyone who heard himwould practically laugh in his face he never gave up his dream on the contrary, these things would reaffirm him more in his goal. And like all of us know he finally reach it.
