Editorial Essay
The importance of having a non-smoking area in school is abysmal. Every school should be smoke free because of the harm ofcigarettes, cigars, tobacco, etc. to the human body, and the bad ambience that rounds the school. Having non-smoking principles kids and teens will be moreaware of the harm that tobacco and drugs make to them, so they will be more likely to stay away from smoking.
“Kids and adolescents who smokeexperience changes in the lungs and reduced lung growth, and they risk not achieving normal lung function as an adult.” (Vermaelen, Louis). Cigars should beprohibited at all levels of school because of the strong harm that gives to teachers and students. Teachers are the most likely to smoke at school, they are the example for the children, so if they smoke at school, what will students think about it? School is where people don’t just gain knowledge, but also a tool for growing as a healthy and bright person.
Each day 3,000 children smoke their first cigarette. I think that by having non-smokingrules children will be capable to understand the harm that cigarettes make to our body. Some may think that students have their own right for doingwhat they want, but the reason for having non-smoking policies is that there are also many students who don’t smoke but by being near a person who smoke(s)he will also be affected.
