This essay is about the Christmas season. In this essay I talk about what the Christmas means to me, What are the things that I like to do in Christmas, I also talk the members of thefamily that gather in my house and how we have so much fun putting the decoration of the house and cook our favorites Puerto Rican plates.
What Christmas means for me
In the way that thetime has pass the real meaning of Christmas season has been lost. When people think about Christmas the only thing that comes to their minds are the presents or the Christmas bonus check that they aregoing to receive at work. But to me Christmas is more than that.
Christmas to me is a celebration, which includes spending time with my family,
decorating the entire house, inside and out withlights, candles and all kinds of colorful decoration. I also go shopping, for the people I love. Doing this with the people I love is what means the most to me.
Spending Christmas with my family isvery important to me. We usually gather and celebrate at my mother’s house, in Humacao Puerto Rico. Almost the whole family comes, my grandmother, my two sisters, also my uncles and aunts with all mylittle cousins that live in Pennsylvania and Texas comes for our celebration. We spend the day preparing a big Christmas dinner cooking turkey and roasted “lechon”, making “arroz con gandules”, and allkinds of puertorican desserts like “tembleques”. The children love to see each other. They spend the day playing games and sharing their new gifts and toys that Santa Claus brought for each of them.Decorating for Christmas is so much fun. My mother always makes in the garden the background scenery, for the Nativity scene, that she displays, every year. My sisters and my grandmother start withthe decorations for the outside of the house and the front yard. Every year, my family adds a little more to the outside decorations.
