Error 8611

The 8611 error is generated by the thinkpad motherboard, and has nothing at all to do with Whenhozed or device manager.

I would try (oh WHAT IS THE MODEL) going to IBM, download the manuals--user and "hardware maintenance" andpull loose the keyboard.
Unplug and "replug" the keyboard flex cable a time or two to see if the keyboard connector is dirty.
If not, you probably need to replace the keyboard. To my knowledge, the average person cannot replace or repair just the trackpoint.

A veces se puede obtener el error 8611:

* Si un apagado de emergencia se realiza mientras una aplicación está abierta, entonces inmediatamente se crea un error 8611.

* Apagar Repetidamente sistema y al volver sin realizar el apagado del sistema adecuado

La solución:

* Espere al menos 6segundos o más después de apagar el sistema o antes de reiniciar el 8611 para corregir el error.

Si lo anterior no funciona, tendrá que desactivar el TrackPoint, sólo que tendrá que usar un ratón con el ordenador portátil desde ese momento.
No hay ninguna garantía de que esto funciona porque también puede ser el teclado en sí, se haría bajo su propio riesgo.

En primer lugar entrar en lautilidad de configuración del sistema la cual usted esta forzado a entrar cuando obtiene el error 8611.
Entonces vuelva al menú principal y entre en la configuración, en ese momento pulse la tecla Control y la tecla d, al mismo tiempo.
Busque y asegurese de que están en la pagina -base 128 cmos-

Puedes buscar OFSET 20h, (tal vez un número diferente ## h) y en la 1ra columna y 3ra fila cambiarel número a 01.
Cuando termine de cambiar el número a 01 pulse la tecla F2 y luego la tecla F3.

A continuación, salga fuera y reinicie el equipo. El equipo debe reiniciar con el TrackPoint desabilitado. Y tendrá que usar un ratón con la Thinkpad.

Aunque se ha encontrado otra manera de sortear esta dificultad. Cuando se carga el error de arriba, dejenlo un rato en la medida de lo posible,entonces habrá un botón de reinicio, haga clic, este le dará el número de error, aparecerá un símbolo rojo y después el simbolo deñ libro de IBM. Luego presiona F5 o F8 y te va a llevar a la configuración. Un vez ahí, sólo tiene que seleccionar para cargar el equipo normalmente y después que esté listo para avanzar!

Hola de nuevo, aparentemente el error es debido a un malfuncionamiento del teclado o el track point, el error puede deberse a un fallo de alguno de los dos dispositivos o por haber apagado por las bravas el think pad.

Si es por lo segundo, después de que aparezca el error hay que esperar un tiempo prudencial para volver a encenderlo, si es lo primero te tocará llevarlo al servicio técnico

My trackpoint mouse died today, then again, I did carry the laptop all the
way around Australia on the back of my bicycle (lunky.com) and a recent
trip to Burning Man, so gofigure. Anyway, when I rebooted I received the
typical "8611 error". After searching around the net I discovered the
machine will not boot with a malfunctioning trackpoint that is enabled.

Ok, so how do I disable it? All of the docs I found on IBM and the net
mention to use the PS2 utility in windows to disable the trackpoint. Ok,
but the system won't boot....so I can't disable it!...
