Mendelevium is an element on the periodic table of elements which is found on the bottom right side. It is a radioactive metal. Its symbol Is Md, Itsatomic number is 101 (also its atomic mass).It was discovered by a team of scientist at the University of California, Berkeley in 1955, G.T Seaborg, S.G. Tompson,A. Ghiorso, K. Street Jr . Named inhonor of Dmitri Mendeleev, who devised a periodic table of elements. Mendelevium is the ninth transuranium element of the actinide series (which means a radioactive rare earth element). Someexperiments indicated that Mendelevium is a stable dispositive(II) oxidation state in addition to the tripositive (III) oxidation state, as is characteristic of the actinide elements. When in room temperatureit is a solid. It has been used to determine some of the chemical properties of mendelevium in aqueous solution. Around Fourteen isotopes have been recognized.
