RAINWATER HARVESTING SYSTEMS IN RESIDENCES
Now at days, technology has open endless ways to economize and improve our current standards of living, through the reutilization of natural resources suchas the many ways of energy we can get from them.
Rainwater harvesting is only one of the many methods we are offered by mankind, it consist in one simple, basic and economic concept; recollect therainwater to use it in all the daily home-needs. According to the human needs, we can divide the water use in 2 ways; for the home use and for the human consumption.
Rainwater harvesting systemsinstalled in a standard house increases its construction cost by $2,500, reducing the water consumption of the public supply up to 50%, which is reflected such ecologic as economically, not only reducingthe expenses, but creating a fond of savings and a conscience on the habitants of the house. Long term speaking, the implementation of this system creates a saving of the 60% annual, which means thatin less than 2 years you will regain your initial investment.
Fresh water (drinkable) represents only the 0,3% of the water resources in the world. The scarcity and the costly obtaining of drinkablewater have taken the local suppliers to increase the cost of the water with loads and tributes that increases year by year.
If we classify the total amount of water that consumes a person by thedifferent type of applications, we can affirm that the third part of this water has to be clean quality water, this percent represents the personal consume, the kitchen use etc… however, we use this kindof water for all kind of activities such as laundry, irrigation, cars, and many others, that could be replaced by recycle rainwater. Nevertheless, if the person requires it, these systems can alsoincorporate water treatment that allows us to drink it, increasing the cost of the system but decreasing the need of water from other sources up to a 99%.
