By The Sea

By the sea was written by William Wordsworth, he was born on 7 April 1770 in

Cockermouth,Cumberland, in the Lake District. By the sea was written in the early

1800s. and it is supposed that this was a real moment in Wordsworth`s life because

the girl mentioned in the poem could be his owndaughter Caroline whose mother

was wordsworth`s former mistress Anette Vallon , who William went to see shortly

before he married Mary Hutchinson and it is supposed that it was in that trip hewrote

“By the sea” . This is a Petrarchan poem which has 14 lines in two parts, an octet and

a sestet .It is a concrete sonnet because it is descriptive , it appeals to the senses and it

clearly see what he is representing with his words. There is assonance in lines 1 and 4,

and alliteration inlines 7,9,13 and 14, but none of these really matters or interferes

stanza says “the holy time is quit as anun”, so it means that time is pure because it is

holy and also prudent or quiet, meaning holy again; then in the second stanza says “

The gentleness of heaven…” so it is also allusion to religion, the again in the next

line” …the mighty Being is awake” allusion to god, after this in 3rd stanza says

“…solemn thought” which is also allusion to religion, and finally in the last line says”God..” so again is making reference to religion. The hole poem has a serene and

genuine tone, also heartfelt, mature but innocent, and the mood is melancholic and

happy, gentle, Wordsworth...
