Terrorism

"We cannot allow terrorist intimidation to block or derail international diplomatic efforts to resolve major political conflicts in strife-torn regions, such as the Middle East. In manysuch areas terrorism has become a major threat to peace and stability, and its suppression therefore is in the common interests of international society.” According to Paul Wilkinson.

During thelast years, terrorism has became one of the major problems around the world causing conflicts, wars and thousands of deaths, threatening the sovereignty of the nations. However there isn’t a specificdefinition for that term because it involves too many people, ideologies and arguments.

The Encyclopedia of Britannica describes terrorism as, "the systematic use of terror or unpredictable violenceagainst governments, publics, or individuals, to attain a political objective." It is often that almost every terrorist attack or group is related to Islam and the Middle East because there are manyradical people that follows their Qur'an and believes in such an extreme way that they would do anything to praise their god. However, it is important to understand both sides involved in terroristacts, the terrorist group and the attacked country or party, because maybe we can think that someone is a terrorist but in his/her country they would think that he/she is a freedom fighter.

In mostcases, terrorist attacks are perpetuated by organizations formed by a group of people that want to impose a political or either a religious view no matter if they need to kill civilians or if they needcreate a conflict and deliberately target or disregard the safety of innocent people. In order to achieve their goals, terrorists are willing to create fear in the people by taking control ofmilitary and civilian government facilities, high-profile landmarks.
