Your Child’s Worse Enemy
During the past years it seems like if the growth of children obesity and overweight children has become anepidemic. One of the causes to the growth of children obesity is the influence of technology and media on children. Children spend a lot of time in front of a television, either washing TV shows or playingvideo games and they spend a lot of hours on a computer learning or communicating with friends or just playing games. Technology provides information, entertainment, communication methods and manymore good things, but when the use of technology replace physical activity in a child, technology can become the child’s worse enemy.
We all know that children are attracted by food high in caloriesand really low in nutrition. The media advertise commercials with this type of food. In a report release by the institute of medicine said that television advertisements have a huge influence on thefood that children under 12 eat. Cartoons that supposed to be good for children are advertising non healthy food to children. ( I would add more to this paragraph)
Children are not only consuming morejunk food and consuming more calories, but they are also not being physically active. According to Andrea Cespedes in her article “OBESITY IN CHILDREN & TECHNOLOGY” The U.S. Centers for DiseaseControl and Prevention reports that about “10 percent of preschool age children and 15 percent of 6- to 19-year olds” can be considered overweight. She claims that instead of letting kids walk to schoolparents are driving them to school, Kids use motorize toy cars and scooters instead of pedal bikes, Teens handle remote control instead of a baseball bat, The television has become a replacement foroutside play. This shows how technology is being excessively use which is causing our children to not be physically active. I am adding more to this paragraph
