The Farewell to Slavery

Slavery may sound strong and cruel, but in the early times it was a question of position in a society with a European culture. The once so legally trade of people asservant that serves to few others, had to come to an end even if some of them had to die to get the so called freedom. A lot of people try to help them by creating ways to give them the opportunity tolive among them as equals.



Since the beginning of history, Slavery has been something so common in the aristocrat societies. I can start with the Roman Empire which inherited the institutionfrom the Greeks and had a 20% of slaves in their population; no so far the so fascinating philosopher Aristotle believed that some were born to be slave. In Egypt slaves could be, also, prisoners ofwar or criminals. Moreover, Vikings used to take in captive people from other countries and they sell them or kept them as slaves.





In America Slavery was something legal, since the LucasVasquez who in the intent to colonize North Carolina his slaves ran away and start living in the wild. First, were brought to Jamestown, Virginia to be sold, 20 black slaves by a Dutch soldier. Second,we may say that maybe this wasn’t the first time that African slaves were brought to Virginia. Third, it was in the same state of Virginia, with the Virginia Law aimed at Caucasian servants that runaway with black servants. Moreover, it was instituted a Slave Code in 1705 that says that African Americans are slave in this territory for at least another 160 years.



Slavery in the Southerncolonies, were so important for the economy and with the Declaration of Independence where the only prohibition was not to import more slaves. First, in the southern colonies the African- American wereso important for the agricultural economy and they don’t wanted the abolition of the slaves.
