In August, when Medellin known as the "City of the eternal spring " blooms in all his brilliance and the balconies, the terraces, the gardens and the fences areflooded with flowers, it initiates the famous Fair.
The Fair of the Flowers has the duration of approximately 10 days and develops every year, in the first weeks of August. This annual eventoffers to the visitors more than 140 such cultural, traditional and modern events as: National Equine Fair, Festival of Orchestras, National Festival of the Trova, parade of classic and ancient cars,canine trek, Festival of the Recollection and of the Popular Song, Women's Contest Talent, National Championship of Sound on Wheels, between others.
The Fair of the Flowers is one of thecultural episodes of Colombia more loaded with affirmation of the identity and the event that assembles all the Antioqueños and thousands of tourists who visit the city of Medellin, turned, these days,into a space that vibrates with the flowers, the happiness, the music and the amusement.
The most representative event is, undoubtedly someone, the Parade of the Silleteros with peasants whoproduce beautiful arrangements of flowers and them load in his backs, recognized as Cultural Heritage of Colombia. The bedpans constructed in wood, with a back and two influences that allow to hangthem on the shoulders, were used already in the epoch of the Cologne to transport persons in the mountains of Antioquia. Every year, men, women and children take with very much pride in his backsthe representation of his lives, of his history, of his land and of his culture since the flowers have done part of his development.

To this spectacle there wait the national and foreign touriststhat, with the emblematic shout of “When the silleteros happen, it is Antioquia the one that happens ", celebrate this beautiful rural tradition that represents Colombia before the world.
