Galileo:
Galileo galilee was borne at Pisa Italy in 1520. His father was a musician& matematician that possessed a bit of fame in Italy. His first studies were at a convent in Florence Italy. Galileo intended to enter the convent but after some time he dicided not to become anovice, and when he got to the right age he entered the university of Pisa. His father decided that he must become a doctor so galileo started his medical studies. Jung galileo wasn’t interested in medicine so he only attended some curses of his own choice such as mathematics and natural philosophy.

After some time studing medicine galileo decided to leave the medical studies and dedicate histime to mathematics. During this time he developed a telescope. At first his telescope was only able to amplify images four times but after a while he developed a telescope with the capability of enlarging images eight times. With this telescope galileo was able to wach and explain several astronomical phenomenon. He discovered that the earth wasn’t the center of the universe and that the moon hadmountains, etc. after some time galileo decide to pblish his descoveries and at first the church didn’t had many objection, but when his book was published the church traild him, acused him of liar and condemned him to a life of home emprisoment. Even today the church dosnt recognizes the impact of his work as you can see in the catholic encyclopedia: “Though (…)it is by his astronomicaldiscoveries that he is most widely remembered, it is not these that constitute his most substantial title to fame.”
Galileo died in 1642.
Leonardo Boff:
Leonardo Boff was born in Concordia, Santa Catharina, Brazil, on the December 14, 1938. He studied Philosophy in Curitiba, Paraná and Theology in Petropolis, Rio de Janeiro. He joined the Order of the Franciscan Friars Minor in 1959 and received hisdoctorate in Philosophy and Theology from the University of Munich, Germany, in 1970.

Boff was condemned to “silence” (suspension of religious work) by the roman catoholic church; because of the collection of essays he wrote “Charism and Power and Essays in Militant Ecclesiology”. This essays went against traditional church thinking, saying that Jesus didn’t stablished how the church structuremust be, so alternative churches were also valid. Due to international preassure the Vatican released him of his punishment.
After a second thread of “silence” he quitted the church.
On December 8, 2001 he was honored with the alternative Nobel Prize, “Right Livelihood Award” in Stockholm, Sweden.
He presently lives in Jardim Araras, an ecological wilderness area on the municipality ofPetrópolis, Rio de Janeiro with his partner, daughter and sons and grandkids.
