GEOLOGY
The geologist can apply their knowledge in understanding the evolution of the Earth's crust over time, assessment and mitigation of natural hazards, exploration and protection of water andsoil, exploration and development of mineral and energy resources, and settlement of civil works .
The geologist must possess self-learning capabilities, analysis of complex situations,communication, evaluation, and management supported by critical thinking. Also must be able to meet emerging situations and make the right decisions, in addition to the ability to relate Multiprofessionally andmulticulturally.
Their expertise should be developed through geological surveys of various types, ie from regional geological maps to maps of mines. They should also have proper management techniquesprospecting, exploration and exploitation of mineral, water or fossil fuels as part of a sustainable equilibrium.
The field work in which it operates geologist comprising geological research, miningcompanies (Antofagasta Minerals, Barrick Gold, BHP Billiton, etc.) and hydraulic, and private agencies engaged in exploration or exploitation of natural resources (CODELCO), planning offices, civilconstruction, urban settlements and universities.
