Sale of firearms must have more restrictions
Seug-Hui Cho, a student from Virginia Tech went to a gun store and bought a firearm very easily. In order to buy this gun he only had to prove that hewas a Virginia resident and that he didn’t have any criminal records. What happened after this? Let’s go back to 2007 and recall the tragedy at Virginia Tech, didn’t he use this gun to kill students athis own university? (In the United States we should have more regulations and laws that can make the process of buying a gun more difficult).
There are millions of gun owners in the world and thereis a broad range of explanations why people have decided to be the owner of a gun, they can be good reasons, but there are many unhealthy or unscrupulous reasons as well. For example a fairly weekreason is: when a person buys a gun because it is said to be “Cool”, this is one of the most ignored factors in gun possession but it is part of our reality. The bad side would be for those who want agun basically because they think it will make them powerful; but some people don’t understand that it can be extremely risky. Possessing a gun only for the purpose of hunting is very common in theUnited States and for people to be very successful hunting; different guns are necessary, which means that they have to buy more than one firearm. Target shooting is another reason for people to buy agun, Shooting can be very challenging and people feel sense of achievement from being able to put their shots exactly where they want them to go. The most powerful reason to buy a gun is forself-defense, humans possess a strong self-prevention urge, and a gun is very often the best instrument one can have on hand to counter a threat to one’s life.
In my opinion, it doesn’t matter why people buyguns or not, what matters is if this person behind the purchase will be responsible for that gun and handle it without causing harm to other people. Also if considering firearms had more restrictions...
