Installing Your RailDriver Desktop in Windows 98 and Me:
IMPORTANT: Do NOT plug the RailDriver USB connection in before installing our software. This procedure may require your Windows installation disk. 1. Insert theRailDriver CD ROM. NOTE: If the program does not start automatically, find "rdsetup.exe" on the RailDriver CD and run it. 2. Follow the on-screen directions to install the RailDriver software. 3. Restart Windows when prompted. 4. Remove the RailDriver CD ROM. 5. Shut down Windows and the computer (power off). 6. Plug in the RailDriver's USB connector and turn on the computer. 7. Windows willrecognize new hardware and prompt you through the installation. 8. Follow the on-screen instructions. If Windows asks for drivers from a disk, Browse to the Windows/System folder and click OK. If Windows cannot find the drivers in this folder, you may need to insert your Windows installation disk and find the drivers there. 9. Windows will install the required drivers and complete the installation.Installing Your RailDriver Desktop in Windows 2000, and XP:
Follow steps 1-6 above. When the computer restarts, Windows will recognize new hardware and install it for you. NOTE: To Install Your RailDriver Desktop with a RailDriver Analog or DCC Control Module, please refer to the instructions included with the control module, or visit our web site (www.raildriver.com) for instructions.

2Connecting Sound and Vibration Features on Your RailDriver Desktop:

The following steps are required to enable the RailDriver internal sub-woofer. Power and audio connections are not required for operation of the RailDriver controls, but they do enhance the driving experience. 1. Plug the RailDriver Controller into the line out sound port on your computer. 2. Plug the speakers (which were in thesound port) into the RailDriver pass through sound port. 3. Connect the 12 VDC Power Supply. 4. Set the Amplitude control to mid level (adjust setting when RailDriver is running with your train simulation software). NOTE: The RailDriver Desktop contains a speaker which has been magnetically shielded to prevent color distortion on video displays. Exposing magnetic media (floppy disk, memory stick, ordigital tape) to magnetic materials may cause data loss.

Installing labels for the controls and function keys:

To apply legends for the function keys, pry up carefully, but with force, on the panel cover, place the legend strips above the keys. When placing the default layout strips, the ESC button will be the first button in the upper row, and the RailDriver Run/Stop button will be thefirst button in the lower row. Insert the top of the panel cover first, and snap the bottom back into place.

To remove wiper and light switch caps for labeling, insert a thin bladed screwdriver into the slot on either side of the switch and carefully pry up until the switch cap pops off.
