Barrio de Tlaxcala
El Barrio de Tlaxcala se fundó en 1592, con varias familias de Indios tlaxcaltecas llegados en noviembre anterior y asentados junto conlos guachichiles en el primitivo "puesto de San Luis". Los franciscanos fundaron el convento en 1605 contiguo a la capilla que se había levantado ya. Cuando eltemplo de San Francisco dejó de ser parroquia para indios, se erigió esta iglesia en parroquia, la cual conservaron dichos religiosos hasta el año de 1868.

Tenía una plaza al frente, hoy ocupadapor las vías del ferrocarril en donde además se construyó la primera plaza de toros que hubo en la ciudad demolida en 1888 para dar paso al tren.
