El uso de Since y For en ingles

For significa desde hace. Se usa for con un periodo de tiempo – 1 minute, 1 hour, 1 day, a month, a year etc...

Since significa desde. Se usasince con un punto en el tiempo – 10 o’clock, 2nd January, August, 2001, yesterday etc...

Se usa for y since con el presente perfecto y el presente perfecto continuo

Ejemplos

I have lived here since 2006. Vivo aquí desde el 2006.
I have lived here for 2 years. Vivo aqui desdehace 2 años.
I have been studying English for 3 months. Llevo estudiando inglés 3 meses.

How long? se utiliza para preguntar sobre cantidades o periodos de tiempo
Ejemplo: How long have you beenwaiting? -Only for a minute or two.
Traducción: Cuanto tiempo llevas esperando? -Solo un minuto o dos.
Ejemplo: How long have they been married? -More than 10 years.
Traducción: Cuanto tiempo llevancasados? -Más de 10 años.
Ejemplo: How long will the concert last?
Traducción: Cuanto tiempo durará el concierto?
How long, también se utiliza para preguntar sobre la medida de largo de algo.
Ejemplo:How long is your hair right now?
Traducción: Que tan largo es tu cabello ahora?
Ejemplo: How long are the pants? Maybe we can be able to fix them.
Traducción: Que tan largos son los pantalones?...
