What is psychology? Psychology is the scientific study ofbehavior and mental process. Where does this word comes from? It comes from ancient Greek of the words “Psyque” meaning soul and “Logos” meaning study; the study of the soul. The knowledge that resultedfrom scientific studies has developed positive answers to problems in human activity.
Psychology applied to education… The different principles, strategies and techniques that come from psychologyhave proved themselves useful; they give a wider point of view to teachers about the intellectual stage of development of their students, which allows them to improve their teaching methods.Psychology applied to mental health… Clinical psychology is a strong branch, this is inclined to help person in the overcoming and soothing of internal problematic situations, it also helps by developingstrength and other qualities inherent to human beings psychological development.
To fulfill the objectives of a professional dedicated to the clinical labor the psychologist needs to posses the followingqualities: empathy, honesty, human interest, flexibility, credibility, and acceptance. Equipped with this the therapist can create a relationship based in trust respect and confidence which leadstoward a positive change in the client.
Psychology applied to companies… The psychologist dedicated to this area works directly with the most important element and strength of a company its humanresource; another objective is to persuade people because psychological knowledge is to know peoples reaction to certain messages.
