The USA is often referred to as the greatest democracy on earth.

The voting system of the USA is very different from ours and it is quite difficult to understand. In the USA, the popular vote doesnot count and the electoral votes are the only ones who matter. I think that this system has its pros and cons. The good thing, is that it is more organized because the majority wins all and everyamerican citizen has the right to vote.

Americans have the right to chose whether they want to support republicans or democrats. This might sound basic, but it is not the case of countries like NorthKorea where people do not have a voice. Having the right to vote is something we often underestimate.

The problem in the USA is that there are only two parties taking all the votes; therepublicans and democrats are the only parties people even consider to vote for. Parties like The green party are not even invited to the debates. People don’t have more choices aside of republicans anddemocrats and I think that this is causing people to go to a extreme where they can’t longer discuss politics without fighting. The lack of political options has made people to vote for their favorite partyand not for the ideas. Americans are not even interested in understanding the other parties’ solutions, they just focus on hating and fighting because they have preconcieved ideas about them and theydon’t feel the need of actually listen to what the other has to say.

This is not exclusive of the USA, it happens in many places. But Americans are more extreme.
It’s not hard to find politicalarguments online where people call each other “ignorant” for simply not agreeing with them. The tension between democrats and republicans has caused people to feel uncomfortable when discussing politicseven with friends.
