The rock is a musical genre of the twentieth century and contemporary times which are born each of the various music genres derived from rock and roll . The original rock is derived from manysources, mainly blues, rhythm and blues and country, but also gospel, jazz and folk.

Rock music has its roots in the era of rock and roll and rockabilly of the 1950's. In the mid 1960's, rockmusic combined with folk music, with blues, jazz, and without a time stamp for create psychedelic rock . In the 1970's, rock incorporated influences from soul , the funk , and Latin music. Also in 1970,rock developed a number of subgenres, such as soft rock , the hard rock , the progressive rock , the heavy metal and punk . The subgenres of rock of the 1980 include the glam rock , the hardcore punk, alternative rock, and speed metal . The subgenres of rock of the 1990 include the indie rock , and the piano rock . important moments in the evolution of the rock.

1950: Emergence of ElvisPresley , popularization. The rock and roll comes to the United Kingdom with musicians such as Billy Fury and Marty Wilde. The Quarrymen (later to become The Beatles in the late 50's , early 60s ).

1960:Come known as The Beatles and British Invasion Rolling Stones , The Kinks , Small Faces , The Who , The Yardbirds , The Animals. The psychedelic rock was born in California with the Grateful Dead ,Jefferson Airplane , The Doors , Love and Iron Butterfly or pop rock influenced by the hippy culture of The Mamas and The Papas and Association. In the United Kingdom is taken up by groups of BritishInvasion , led by the Beatles. Also there are other very innovative bands such as Pink Floyd , Traffic , Jethro Tull or Soft Machine later would lead to progressive rock .
