A House or a Home?

”Do you live in a house or a home?’’ this is the first question that we’re asked in the ad. While saying word ”house” there are simple, sharp, square letters representing aregular building. This is supposed to show us that house is a ordinary place that is meaningless while when word ”home” comes up in, later on it’s written with rounded letters and orange colour wich isconsidered to be warm.
Afterwards there’s another retorical question asked. Are we in the home for money or the love? It’s not a very had question to answer. While the voiceover says ”money” piles ofbanknotes formed in the word MONEY appear, it gives us a cold, unpleasant feeling. Againg for concrast it’s different with the word LOVE. There’s sithar musivc playing in the background and again,warm colours like red, yellow and orange appear. It’s amazing how creators of this ad thought every sterp through to make an impact on our emotions. It”s bvious to me that when we compare colours likedark geen and red we’ll be feeling better seeing the second one.
As the next image we see word PERFECT, it shaped in the plan of an appartement. When seeing that we get the impression there’s no lifein this house. Although the moment the music changes and the image goes colourful our feelings change again. We’re happy to see letters running around and making sounds like little children do. Doesn’tit makes us feel warmer inside?
Afterwards there’s word LOOK with a little tear, that in some way would make me feel sentimental. Creators of this ad ask us wether we want the house for the money orfor the memories that will last forever.
Every scene, image, sound and the voiceover was really planned well from the beginning to the end. This ad made me think of my own home wich was the aim ofIKEA. I think that IKEA wants to show us that it’s not the expensive equipement in the house that makes it home. It’s the love and the people that are involved in creating warm, hospitable and...
