Presentation objective of Islam

Islam is a monotheistic religion founded by Mohammed in Arabia in the seventh century.
In 2009, 1.57 billion adherents, called Muslims "belong to this religion,making it the 2nd largest after Christianity and Hinduism before. It represents over 23% of world population and is present in countries around the world.
Islam is the only religion named in theofficial designation of several States in the form of "Islamic Republic".
The holy book of Islam is the Koran. The Islamic doctrine ensures that the book contains the revelation of Allah, transmittedorally by his prophet Mohammed. It introduces and explains all the rules, duties and history of Islam.
Sharia is Islamic law. Islamic law covers all aspects of life from the very subjects of generalgovernment and foreign relations until the subjects of daily life. These rules specify what is Halal (lawful) or Haram (unlawful). Such as feed bans.
The imam is not a priest or rabbi, unlike otherreligions, but a community member who leads the prayer, the muezzin is the person making the call to prayer at the top of the minaret. The temples are called Islamic mosques.
Islam is divided intoseveral factions, including Sunni Islam, which represents between 80 and 85% of Muslims, Shiism found mainly in Iraq and Iran. These two trends are fighting for their origin.
The five pillars of Islam arefaith in one God (Tawheed) of Allah, and the recognition of Mohammed as his prophet; the performance of daily prayer, Salah, Sawn is the charity to the needy, the Zakat; compliance during the fastingmonth of Ramadan and the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in their life, if one has the material and physical condition.
