Short Story Analysis

I. Title
A. The title of the story is literal, because the story is about a girl who is a “Come M…”.This world in English means an arrogant people with many other negative characteristic.
II. Plot
B. The short story “La come M…” tell about a teenager Christine. She lives in Humacao. Due to new father job, the family decided move to San Juan. Nowshe will be change to private collage to St. John´s public collage. Until she wait one month to translate public school that was in University Gardens High School in Rio Piedras. When she arrived to the public school in the XK-8 Black Jaguar, many students thought that she became from a upper class. They named “Come…” and all talks that she was different because used expensive and exclusive thingssuch as car, dress, etc. she thought that was superior than others and enjoy everybody looked her. The teachers talk about the pride and arrogance of Christine. When translated to other collage she went without saying good-bye to her schoolmate. When she left everybody felt happy, instead she was very happy with her family and friends in Palmas del Mar and for entrance in private school. Howeverin this private school she passed unnoticed because all people were of high circles. For this reasons her days like “Come mierda” finished.
III. Setting
C. The setting of the story is in the Metropolitan Area of San Juan in University Gardens High School in Rio Piedras. Christine parents decide to move to the San Juan Metropolitan Area. Found her one of the best public school in thearea. The story lasted about a month and it was during school hours Monday through Friday 8:00 AM. - 3:00 PM.
IV. Point of View
D. Third person omniscient
1. “Still, Christine´s mind was not ready yet for a public school reality.
V. Main Character
E. Christine Ann Clasini
1. High class family, presumptuous, arrogant, her clothing was very elegant, accessories ofexclusive mark and costly and may be unique. Her shoes accordant with her clothes. The relationship with other peoples aren´t good. She belief that liable to denigrate, critic, treat in a disrespectful manner at her classmate, teachers and everybody different to her. She felt like a superstar, Goddess, queen, etc. she likes be the center of attention.
VI. Secondary Characters
F.Christine´s mother
2. She is a prominent realtor. She learns to her daughter to continue to be a presumptuous. She have own office.
3. Presumptuous, arrogant, conceited, intelligent, rich, good wife, working and more.
G. Christine´s father
4. He´s a politician and former legislator from the eastern towns, now is the director of an important government agency.5. He´s a good father and husband that wants the best for his daughter no matter what he need to do. The meet every whim of his daughter and wife.
H. Classmate, teachers
6. Classmates, teachers and other mocked her for her being so pushy with others. While jealous and/or admired what she has.
7. They showed no wonder they did not bother to release it when theleft the school because she deserved it.
VII. Conflict
I. The main conflict presented in this story is the prejudiced of the social class.
VIII. Type of Conflict
J. The conflict its internal and external: it’s internal because she wants best and superiority all the other persons or students. And is external because she began problems with the others person and they citizenher.
IX. Solutions
K. Maybe if the father had not indulged in every whim and had not given him all his tastes, or just teach him to be humble. Maybe if you pay more attention to her daughter she would have to look elsewhere.
