A pesar de la creencia generalizada de la mujer martirizada, sometida y humillada en el mundo islámico esto es totalmente falso, pues fue la religión islámica la primera entre todas las religiones semitas y antes que las sociedades europeas a la mujer yal hombre al mismo nivel.
De las tres religiones semitas tan sólo el islam buscó la igualdad del hombre y la mujer, mientras que tanto judaísmo y cristianismo se debatían entre si el alma de una mujer sería humana o animal, la expulsaban de su casa para no tocarla en días menstruales.
