MAIN AIM : Thepurpose of this unit is to provide students with some basic classroom language that will enable them to communicate in English at all times during their foreign language lessons.SOCIAL PRACTICE: Carrying out certain transactions.FUNCTION OF LANGUAGE: I.2. ACTIVITY: 4.- Text asking for permissions and following instructions.5.- Text practicing days of the week and months of the year.6.- Text writing dates.Textmaintaining communication in or out of the classroom. | PROCEDURE:Lead – in: Teacher starts the class asking for permission to get in and out the classroom and the students can identify the overall messageand some details (key words). Teacher also indicates to take out the notebooks with mimic. Text work: Teacher gives students a list of instructions. Students can use knowledge of the world and clues(location, illustration, layout) to decode the meaning of unfamiliar words. Teacher also shows a calendar and ask for students to say the days of the week and months of the yearReflection of language:Students notice that the imperative form is used to give instructions (e.g. Come in, Listen, Match the columns, etc.) and the non-equivalence of sound and letter in English (e.g. August /’ :g st/,Wednesday /’wenzde /, third /‘ 3rd/, etc.) and use such language features appropriately.Use of language: Teacher and students practice permissions in the classroom, office, principal room, library,etc. Teacher ask for the students to write today’s date and others, and indicates to practice the date of birth for every one using just the month and year.
